Clamp-on Transit Time Ultra Flow & Energy Meters for Liquids
TFX Ultra ultrasonic flow and energy meters clamp onto the outside of pipes and do not contact the internal liquid. The technology has inherent advantages over alternate devices including: low-cost installation, no pressure head loss, no moving parts to maintain or replace, no fluid compatibility issue, and a large, bi-directional measuring range that ensures reliable readings even at very low and high flow rates. TFX Ultra is available in a variety of configurations that permit the user to select a meter with features suitable to meet particular application requirements.
The TFX Ultra is available in two versions: a stand-alone flow meter, and an energy flow meter used in conjunction with dual clamp-on RTDs. The energy flow meter measures energy usage in BTU or Tons, and is ideal for retrofit, chilled water and other HVAC applications.
Features of the TFX Ultra include:
- Ability to measure liquids with small amounts of suspended solids or aeration (e.g., surface water, sewage).
- Bi-directional flow measurement system. Totalizer options include forward, reverse and net total.
- Modbus RTU over RS485 communications; Ethernet connection includes BACnet/IP, EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP/IP protocols.
- Compact enclosure uses large, easy-to-read digital display.
- Rugged, aluminum enclosure ensures a long service life in harsh environments.
TFXL Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flow Meter for Liquids
The Series TFXL ultrasonic flow meter clamps onto the outside of a pipe and does not contact the internal liquid. This advanced product provides instantaneous rate and accumulated flows along with 4-20 mA and pulse outputs. Inherent advantages over competitive technologies include ease of installation, and a large, bi-directional measuring range. In addition, the non-contact design eliminates many fluid compatibility issues. The TFXL is housed in an enclosure suitable for outdoor mounting and is available with or without a local display. Compact integral mount systems can accommodate pipes/tubing 2 inches (DN 50 mm) and smaller. Remote mount systems are also available for pipe/tubing sizes ½ inch (DN 15 mm) and higher. A software utility is available for customer configuration and in-field calibration
Features of the TFXL include:
- May be used to measure liquids with small amounts of suspended solids or aeration (e.g., surface water, sewage).
- Bi-directional flow measurement system. Totalizer options include forward, reverse and net total.
- ULTRALINK TM software utility (free download) enables in-field flow meter configuration, calibration and troubleshooting, via laptop PC.
- Compact enclosure uses large, easy-to-read digital display.
DXN Portable Ultrasonic Flow and Energy Meter
The DXN Portable Ultrasonic Flow Meter is a true hybrid ultrasonic flow meter, capable of measuring liquid flow with multiple technologies, including: Doppler, Transit Time and Liquid Thermal (Heat Energy) Flow. DXN is also compatible with a pipe wall thickness gauge, used to verify inside pipe diameter and ensure highly accurate ultrasonic measurements when piping details are unknown or unavailable.
The DXN has a number of advanced features that allow the user to obtain accurate readings while capturing flow surges and high-speed batch operations. DXN captures and records multiple application parameters at one time with an easy-to-use data logging function and provides the power to verify and troubleshoot permanent flow installations with ease.
The DXN Full Kit includes: meter, transducers, cables, power cord and carrying case.

Ultrasonic Flow Meters
Ultrasonic Doppler Flow Meter
Series DFX Ultrasonic Doppler Flow Meters measure the flow of liquids that contain sound reflectors - suspended solids or gas bubbles - greater than 35 micron size. The DFX software automatically adjusts filtering parameters and gain settings so that reliable readings are ensured over a wide range of liquid and reflector conditions. DFX is housed in a NEMA 4X (IP-66) enclosure and is configured by the user via the front panel keypad. A two-line backlit LCD displays rate and accumulated flow values in user selected measuring units. Power supply options include AC or DC operation and output options include 4-20mA, rate pulse and dual relay.
Two transducer types are available with the DFX meter. Series DT9 clamp-on, non-intrusive transducer is recommended for use on most pipes constructed from metal or plastic. The DT9 is rated to NEMA 6P (IP-68) and has the ability to work with temperatures up to 400 F (200 C). Series DP7 insertion probe transducer is available for installations on pipe systems that do not permit ultrasound penetration. The DP7 inserts into the pipe wall and directly contacts the flowing liquid. Both transducer types can be located up to 990 feet (300 meters) from the DFX display enclosure utilizing RG59 coaxial cable.
Reduced installation time: the DFX may be installed and fully operational within minutes. For most homogeneous pipe materials, there is no need to break into pipelines. Reduced down-time: installation may be performed on full pipes and active systems - there is no need to shut the process down for installation or maintenance.
Reduced material costs: clamp-on sensor eliminates the need for in-line flanges, pipe fittings, strainers, or filters. Lower maintenance costs: with no moving parts, there is nothing on the DFX to wear down.
Flexibility: with automatic gain control and in-field Non-intrusive, linearization, the DFX will adapt to a wide variety of applications.
